Truck Information:
Dating back to 1914, this is the oldest Diamond T in our collection- we believe that it is even the oldest Diamond T in existence. The Diamond T Motor Car Company was founded in Chicago in 1905 by a gentleman named C. A. Tilt. His father had been in the shoe business. The diamond stands for quality and his father put Diamond T on the sole of his shoes; that's where the name comes from. The steering wheel is on the right; it has hard rubber tires, wood wheels, and brakes on the front axle. The shift lever is in the middle so the driver would have shifted gears with his left hand. It has a Timken worm-drive rear axle. Timken rear axles were used by a lot of trucks. They allowed for high ground clearance, but unfortunately weren't very heavy-duty. Diamond T was acquired by White Motors of Cleveland, Ohio, in 1958. Manufacturing was moved to Lansing, Michigan, and the last Diamond T rolled off the assembly line in 1966. From the first truck to the last, the Diamond T brand was known for quality and style. Top Speed: 15 MPH
