A Bit of History:

Few antique trucks can claim to rival the impressive reputation of the Mack AC. Most famously used in World War I, this iconic truck was in production from 1916 all the way through 1938. Over 40,000 were produced.
The Mack AC was the truck that earned the company the reputation it still maintains today: durability and dependability. Over 6,000 saw use during World War I, where they became very popular with allied soldiers of all nationalities.
Last month we featured the very first Mack AC ever produced, a 1916 model. Now, we’re featuring one of the very last. Records indicate that this was one of the last three Mack ACs manufactured with the original four-cylinder engine.
This AC was used as a coal delivery vehicle. Back in the 1930s, coal was a very popular way to heat a home. The lifting bed allowed an operator to dispense coal without having to shovel it out manually.

Fun Facts:

Despite the 22 years separating the first ACs from the last, they still look extremely similar. Some changes were made, however. Newer models, like this 1937, featured inflatable rubber tires, electric headlights, and more powerful drivetrains. These small improvements allowed the AC to stay relevant for so long.
The trucking museum owns not one, not two, but five Mack AC/AKs! (Mack AKs were based off the AC, but featured a modified drivetrain.)
This truck originally featured a dump bed manufactured by Heil Welding Co. However, the bed currently on this truck is actually a reproduction of the original.
This truck was acquired by the Iowa 80 group in 1980 and was fully restored in 2011.
