1930 Mack AK

Engine Type:
6-Cylinder

Transmission Type:
4-Speed

Truck Information:
Mack made their AK model from 1927 until 1936. This 1930 Mack AK was used by a house mover in Rhode Island; it's a big truck. It has a window sticker showing it was licensed in 1969; it was still being used 39 years after it was built. Notice there are rags stuffed in the radiator top. Mack AC and AK models were notorious for the top and bottom tank on the radiator failing. The solution was to stuff a rag in it. You couldn't do that today; it wouldn't be pressurized, and the DOT would pull you over. The AK model looks like the AC model, but it has a six-cylinder engine and is a lot heavier. As it sits right now, it weighs 24,000 pounds. It's a beast to drive; arm-strong steering is no joke. While it does have electric start as an option from the factory, there are still provisions for a crank. There is also a very large winch on the back of this truck that was used for moving houses. Top Speed: 40 MPH
