1948 Dodge Power Wagon

Engine Type:
Chrysler 230ci Flathead I6

Transmission Type:
NP420 4-Speed Manual

Truck Information:
Derived from the wartime WC series of trucks, the Power Wagon’s military pedigree is immediately apparent in its no frills, utilitarian design. Produced largely unchanged from 1945 to 1968, the Power Wagon was the first four-wheel drive medium duty truck marketed to the general public. Along with the famous Willys CJ, the Power Wagon is responsible for creating the now popular segment of offroad passenger vehicles. Few vehicles can be credited with creating a whole market segment almost singlehandedly, but the Power Wagon is one of those rarities. Despite its rugged looks and military reputation, this Power Wagon is quite underpowered by modern standards. Our example runs Chrysler’s tried-and-true 230ci flathead inline 6, making approximately 74 horsepower from the factory. This isn’t a fast truck, but it wasn’t designed to be.
