1945 Chevrolet Master

Engine Type:
234.5 Cubic Inch 6-Cylinder Chevrolet Gas

Transmission Type:
4-Speed

Truck Information:
This is a 1945 Chevrolet Master and a 1941 Herman Trailer. The Dusenberry Family of Tucson, Arizona donated them to the museum. They bought both the truck and trailer new, and they used them into the 1950s. This was the first enclosed moving van in Tucson. Moving vans are now much bigger, but people didn't have as much stuff back then. It's hard to imagine driving this across the country, but there are extra gas tanks on it, so obviously that's what they did. The engine in this truck is a 234.5 cubic inch with a 3 and 9/16 bore and a 3 and 15/16 stroke. It is interesting that they were so precise about the engine. We don't know why they didn't go with a nice even number, but some engineers at the time must have had a reason. The Dusenberrys generously donated this unit to the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum in its current condition. Top Speed: 45 MPH
