Truck Information:
This little wrecker is built on a 1927 Graham BB 1-Ton truck. Brand new, this truck retailed for $1,175. The Graham brothers were the first to use 12-volt electrical systems and the first to build trucks with hydraulic brakes. For 1927, this was a very advanced design. Before 12-volt electrical systems came along, there were 6-volt systems. Even with the small engines of the time, the 6-volt systems had a hard time starting an engine – especially when it was cold. This 12-volt system still had a hand crank though, just in case. The winch on the wrecker is a Weaver hand crank; it has no electrical power. In 1917, the three Graham brothers – Robert, Joseph, and Ray – built their truck plant in Evansville, Indiana, which was an early center of truck manufacturing. An average of 60,000 trucks was manufactured by the company per year. They used Dodge engines and transmissions. Their trucks were an overnight success, and so they built a full line of trucks and buses. Soon they were using more Dodge truck engines than Dodge was using for themselves! Eventually though, Dodge ended up buying the Graham Brothers Truck Company. Top Speed: 40 MPH
