The Fageol brothers – Frank and William – were from Des Moines, Iowa but moved to California in the early 1900s. They made their Flyer 4 model from 1916 until 1939 in Oakland, California. T.A. Peterman, a logger and plywood manufacturer from Tacoma, Washington, bought the Fageol factory in 1939 and started up his own trucking venture, Peterbilt Motor Company. This 1928 Fageol has a top speed of 35 miles per hour, which compared to a horse and wagon may have seemed to be flying. This truck has mechanical brakes and a Timken rear axle. It has had virtually no use; we found it on a farm on an island in Minnesota. Apparently, the engine blew up very early in its life and somebody parked it in a shed where it stayed. The roof, cab, windows, running boards, and everything else is original. We did fix the engine. The gill fins on the hood vented hot air out of the engine compartment to help avoid overheating. Their sleek design became a trademark of the Fageol brand. Top Speed: 35 MPH
